Top Gun: Jeff Hersom placed first in one contest, second in another, and fourth in the third. The scores of the three are combined and that makes Jeff Hersom TOP GUN 2008. Hersom moved to Alaska this summer, and drove in to Clinton, but was able to participate in the flying contests thanks to the generosity of Dave Hastings who loaned Hersom his airplane teresting to see that Harvey nearly made it to the top spot by placing 2nd in the nerf drop average, 4th in the scavenger hunt, and 11th in the landing contest. As always, our scoring system favors the pilot who can consistently make accurate landings in Green Acres.

The Clyde Awards Banquet: As usual, we had a ball at the banquet this year, though there were poignant moments when we counted the many Clinton regulars who were unable to make it due to weather and family obligations. Especially missed were two former club members of the year, Gordon Ellis and Wayne Westerman, two of the strongest Clinton supporters in our club.

2008 Member of the Year: Gary Shreve Gary was recognized for his many selfless contributions to club members around the country, including long distance trips to help members buy airplanes and delivering them across the country without personal profit. In addition, Gary, (who is an EMT) provided both medical assistance and emotional support when Lori Parsons’ daughter Kayla was seriously injured at last year’s fly-in.
