Joel Strait's 1967 C150 "The Spirit of St. Joe"

Joel Named his beloved airplane after his hometown base of St. Joe, Florida, a charming airport with a hard turf runway, and great coffee in the FBO. In spite of his comfortable home town surroundings, Joel took the Spirit on an  ambitious adventure in June of 2000. Joel and his friend Hal Hadaller flew their airplanes from Florida to Oregon and back that summer, and quite an adventure it turned out to be! Hadaller crash landed his EAA Biplane in Washington state, but walked away unhurt, and the two friends continued on in the Cessna over some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. (Photo above taken over Wyoming).

Joel detailed their adventure in Cessna 150-152 Pilot Newsletter in High Mountain High. Joel Strait continues to live and write in St. Joe, Florida, and is looking forward to meeting other Cessna 150-152 pilots at the 2004 club fly-in at Clinton, Iowa.
